• Meet Mrs. Matteo

    Welcome back to another school year. I am very excited to start another year at West Penn Elementary.

    I am originally from the Hazleton area and now reside in Drums, Pa with my wonderful husband Jack , my amazing children Connor,16 , Madison, 14 and Brayden 11 years old. I graduated high school from the Hazleton Area School district and then went to Kutztown and earned my bachelors degree in elementary and special education. I furthered my education and received my masters degree in curriculum development from Penn State. I began my teaching career with the Schuylkill IU and taught at Williams Valley Middle/High School for 2 years. I then began teaching at Rush Elementary in the Tamaqua School District 23years ago in the Life Skills Classroom and have been teaching in this class ever since. I truly love what I do and feel a true bond with every student who walks through my door. Although I have children of my own, I feel like the students in my classroom are my own and we make sure they are treated and taught with the best that we have to offer.
